Grassroots Intro to Herbalism (56hr) – Level 1

March 30 – May 19, 2019

The Grassroots level one program will guide people toward taking back their health using the timeless wisdom of the plants.

In this introductory series, we will spend many hours doing hands-on, experiential work with the plants. Students will learn herbal safety, how to identify plants for wildcrafting, many herbal remedies, and medicine making techniques.

Whether your intention is to heal yourself or help your family and community, this class provides a solid foundation for your herbal education and how to incorporate herbal medicine into your life. At the heart of all of The Wild Temple programs, we believe natural healing with herbs, yoga, flower essences and homeopathy is a natural right that is empowering for our own healing and transformation. Weather permitting, classes will be held either in the field, working with plants, or in our beautiful Wild Temple School space in the heart of downtown Grass Valley, Northern California. A perfect weekend getaway for city folk and Bay dwellers! Students will learn to enjoy the bounties of the earth with respect and reverence, bask in the green and gold of our locale, as well as will learn how to apply herbal knowledge for radical self care and healthy family living.

This course is a “seed” immersion that covers the basics, leading one to be prepared for our Level 2 program: Integrative Herbalism Course and our Level 3 program: Clinical Herbalist. 

Upon completion, students will become certified as Grassroots Herbalists from The Wild Temple School of Yoga & Herbal Wisdom.

Community Herbalism (224hr) – Level 2

June 12 – December 18, 2019

Community Herbalism is a 224 hour course spanning 4 months designed for those who want to go beyond the basics with their herbal education. With a strong basis in the Ayurvedic approach to herbs, each class will focus on the anatomy and physiology of the different body systems, the states of imbalance and disease that affect those systems, and how to use herbs to aid in the healing process. This course will have a balance of formal class time and hands-on learning time making medicine, studying botany, performing diagnosis, and deepening our relationships with the plants. Upon completion, students will have a strong understanding of the following concepts:

  • The Ayurvedic approach to herbs & healing

  • Anatomy & physiology of the body systems

  • Herbal and natural disease management

  • Responsible herbalism

  • Deep connection with the spirit of the plants

  • Botany and plant identification

  • Flower Essences

  • Herbal medicine making

  • Herbal medicine formulation

To participate in this class, a foundational understanding of herbal medicine is required. This can be obtained through our Level 1 course: Grassroots Herbalism (see above). Clinical Herbalist – Level 3

This program will prepare students for working with clients on a professional level. Students will experience working with clients under the guidance of professional herbalists. Different approaches and perspectives will be provided so that students will be able to find their own style and what they would like to offer to the world. We will also discuss business and marketing strategies and what it means to be a professional herbalist in this world.

Journey to Avalon: Plant Wisdom Retreat with Brooke Sullivan and Lupo Passero

Spirit of Ireland: Plant Wisdom Retreat with Brooke Sullivan and Lupo Passero

This retreat is a collaboration between The Wild Temple & Twin Star Tribe: two amazing, groundbreaking schools spanning from California to Connecticut, offering an exciting range of classes, programs, workshops and retreats around the world.

This trip is perfect for all levels of herbal experience; whether you are a beginner, the “budding” herbalist or if you’re an experienced herbalist and would like a deeper understanding of sacred plant medicine. About the Teachers

Amy Branum is an herbalist, Ayurvedic practitioner, and flower essence therapist. She holds a bachelors degree in Biology, a graduate degree from the California College of Ayurveda, and has been working with herbal medicine for 15+ years. Amy has also developed and provided herbal remedies to people around the US through her body care company Boutique Botanika. Amy currently teaches herbal classes and has a clinical practice, Lasya Wellness & Vitality, in Nevada City, CA.


Brooke Sullivan BA, e-RYT500 is a herbal yogini, writer, retreat leader, practitioner and educator of the Science and Philosophy of Sri Vidya (ParaYoga) Tantra. She is the director of The Wild Temple School of Yoga and Herbal Wisdom and lead teacher of the Wild Temple’s 500hr. yoga training program. An initiate of the Himalayan Sages, her passion is to empower and to embody the sacred in all aspects of life and her mission is to empower people…sometimes even, radically…to step into their highest, healthiest most powerful selves. Lupo Passero has been intimately connected with the plant world from an early age, and has studied botanical medicine from a variety of perspectives. A mother twice blessed, Lupo has a first hand passion for helping the family enjoy healthy and holistic experiences with pregnancy, childbirth, children and teenagers! Her humble beginning with herbs and flower essences as a young mother in the 90’s inspired her to learn and go on to teach others.
